Abstract: Objective: To determine the relationship between functional capacity and the risk of falls in older adults, Archbishop LoayzaNational Hospital, 2021.Material and method: Basic type study, with a correlal, non-experimental and transversal descriptive level, the sample was 60 older adults, Archbishop Loayza National Hospital, 2021. For data collection, the Katz Scale (1-18) and Lawton and Brody Scale (19-42) of 42 items with dichotomous scale for the functional capacity variable and the 16-item Tinetti Scale with Likert scale for the drop risk variable were used as an instrument. The results were presented descriptively and inferentially. Results: It was observed that 20.00% of participants have poor functional capacity, 46.67% regular and 33.33% optimal. In addition, 53.33% of participants do not have risks of falls and 46.67% have risks of falls. Conclusions: It was concluded that there is an inverse relationship between functional capacity and the risk of falls in older adults, Archbishop Loayza National Hospital, 2021, according to Spearman's correlation of -0.635 represented this result as moderate with a statistical significance of p.0.000 being less than 0.01.Keywords:Functional capacity, risk of falls, older adults
